Our Story

Introduction

My name is Milana ten Have and I am the founder of Sahara-Dance. Ever since I was 4 years old I have been dancing. During the years I practiced different dance styles including Jazz ballet, ballroom dancing, hip hop, street dance, khatak, Zumba and the Bollywood dance.

In 1996 I went to India for the first time, here I came into contact with the beautiful Indian culture. After my first holiday to India many more visits followed. During one of my visits I came in contact with my dance teacher in India, or my Guru. Every year I visit her to practice my dance. In 2001 I started to teach the Bollywood, Belly Dance, Zumba and Zazubo to students around the Netherlands.

India

India has both its beautiful sides (culture, history, sights) and less beautiful sides, such as the poverty and the many street children. I wanted to dedicate myself to the street children in India, but also to the children in other countries.

My passion in dancing became the link between me and my desire to help children all over the world. After several questions if I wanted to give dance classes I decided to start the Sahara-Dance Foundation. With the money earned with teaching and performing I got to help the children in need.

Dance performances

Every year we organize a final presentation in the theatre with all our dance students. Since 2002 we have been incredibly active and have received good brand recognition.

Main objective/goal

The main objective/goal of the Fdn. Sahara-Dance is to provide help to children who are most in need, wherever they are in the world, irrespective of their faith, race or descent. The revenue of the foundation gained from dance classes, workshops and performances goes directly to children in need.

The board and the main dancers are volunteers putting heart and soul into dance and doing great things for children in need.
